GA Medicare Part B Conversion Effective 8/1/09

January 7, 2009, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid announced Cahaba GBA is the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction 10 comprised of Alabama Georgia and Tennessee Medicare. Cahaba GBA will be responsible for the administration of all Medicare Part A & Part B claims in Alabama Georgia and Tennessee.

Infinedi has successfully passed testing for the conversion of GA Medicare-Part B. GA Part B providers will experience a “dark day” on Monday 8/3/09.

A “dark day” is a business day during the cut over period when the Medicare claim processing system is not available for normal business operations. On this “dark day” claim information cannot be provided, nor will claims be processed. Since the “dark day” affects both internal and external users, the interactive voice response (IVR) system will not be available. The system is expected to be up and running as normal business on 8/4/09.

The current contactor number for GA Medicare part B is 10202, effective 7/31/09 after 3:30pm CST the contactor number will change to 00511. If you are currently submitting the 837P format you can change the contactor number in segments ISA08 and GS03 as well as in Loop 1000B, segment NM109. Infinedi will make the contractor number change for all providers and all claims submitted to Cahaba GBA.
