Minnesota Electronic Transactions Legislation

The State of Minnesota has enacted legislation known as Uniform Transactions and Implementation Guide Standards that will require providers, payers and group purchasers to exchange information electronically if licensed or doing business in Minnesota. Vendors and Clearinghouses are excluded from this legislation. The Implementation Schedule for this legislation is as follows: Eligibility/deadline is 01/15/09 Claims/deadline is 07/15/09 Payment and Remittance Advice /deadline is 12/15/09 All payers may not be in compliance with this legislation by the deadline of July 15th, 2009. Infinedi will print and mail paper claims to payers with no established electronic connectivity. Worker’s Compensation (non-HIPAA covered entity) claims are included in this measure.
