New Requirements from CMS

Effective April 6, 2009 CMS has new requirements for Telephone and Written Inquiries. CMS will require providers to provide three data elements for authentication when calling either the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System or a Customer Service Representative (CSR), and on written inquiries. - The provider’s National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- The provider’s Transaction Access Number (PTAN)
- The last 5 digits of the provider’s Tax Identification Number (TIN)
NOTE: Provider’s will only be allowed three attempts to correctly enter the information listed above.
