*Revised* Oklahoma BC/BS Batch/Claim Rejection Error

Recent registration of your Group NPI number with OK BC/BS may be causing claims to be rejected/deleted by the carrier. Reporting your group NPI to OK BC/BS is prompting an automatic change from Individual filing status to Group filing status in payer’s system. Unless this information is also updated with Infinedi, claims will continue to be submitted to payer with an Individual filing status.

What does this mean? Changing the filing status to Group with Infinedi will allow our processing system to print the Group NPI number in (billing provider loop) block 33a of your claim. Leaving the filing status as Individual will cause our processing system to send Individual NPI number in (billing provider loop) block 33a possibly resulting in claims being rejected/deleted by payer.

Infinedi is not aware of changes you make to your enrollment with the payer until you report them to us. Therefore, Infinedi will never assume the need to change filing status unless you request this change..
The following error messages are the result of reporting Group NPI to OK BCBS and either not registering your Group NPI with Infinedi and/or not requesting that the filing status be changed to Group.

  • Error Message: FILE REJECTED - NO ACCEPTED BATCHES
  • Error Message: FILE REJECTED - ERRORS
  • Error Message: BATCH REJECTED - NO ACCEPTED CLAIMS
  • Error Message: BATCH REJECTED - ERRORS
  • Error Message: NPI is not valid as billing >1999999999

Provider Action:

Some provider’s claims are making it through the electronic filing process but not denying until claims are processed at the payer level. If you have received a “CLAIM PROCESSING INFORMATION REQUEST” from OK BC/BS asking you to “resubmit claim with a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) number for the billing provider” or…if you see the above rejections on your OK BLUE Qreports and your batches are being deleted, please contact Infinedi customer service department 1-800-688-8087 to register your Group NPI and/or advise of change to filing status from Individual to Group.

Once your filing status is changed to Group with Infinedi, you will be notified when to resubmit your rejected claims.
